55 injured as Chinese gambling tour bus flips on California freeway
  • 11 years ago
Fifty-five people were injured when a tour bus taking Chinese-Americans from greater Los Angeles to a casino in California flipped over on a freeway.

The tour bus was transporting Chinese-Americans, in their 60s to 80s to a popular casino when the driver tried to make an "unsafe" left hand lane merge.

The driver slammed the tour bus into an unsuspecting car in the left-hand lane, injuring those in the car.

In a panic, the driver over-corrected to the right, sending the wheels into a lock skid along the freeway of such velocity that the bus flipped over into a dirt embankment.

Those on the bus were tossed around inside the vehicle as it flipped.

Rescue crews arrived quickly on the scene, helping passengers out of the bus and sending some away in ambulances and helicopters for emergency treatment from the "blunt trauma" of the bus flipping. However there were remarkably no fatalities.

Traffic was backed up for hours along the busy highway.
