Scientists May Have Found Ancient Continent Beneath The Indian Ocean
  • 11 years ago
Geologists from the University of Olso have analyzed the sands on Mauritia, an island to the east of Madagascar, off of Africa. They found elements of zirconium silicate ranging between 660 million years old and a piece close to 2 billion years old. Since there is no local source for these elements, the study believes they are remnants of an ancient continent that now lies in fragments beneath the Indian Ocean.
