Daniel Day-Lewis leads Reuters poll for best actor Oscar

Daniel Day-Lewis is expected to make Hollywood history by winning his third Best Actor Oscar on February 24 but the public is split over who deserves the Best Supporting Actor prize, according to a Reuters poll.
Day-Lewis has already picked up almost every major award this season for playing U.S. President Abraham Lincoln in Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln."
A poll of 909 Americans, conducted by Reuters and Ipsos, found that 21 percent consider Day-Lewis their favorite and 26 percent said he was most likely to win Best Actor at the Oscars. He is far ahead of the pack, more than 10 percent over second place Hugh Jackman.

"I think he definitely deserves the Oscar, absolutely, no question about it. When I saw that portrayal of Lincoln, yeah, it was amazing."
Fellow nominees Bradley Cooper, Joaquin Phoenix and Denzel Washington were far behind in single digits.
If Day-Lewis does win, he will be the first man to take home the Best Actor statue three times.
As for the best supporting actor honor, the public was less certain.
The field of five includes Alan Arkin, Robert De Niro, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Tommy Lee Jones and Christoph Waltz.
Of those polled 20 percent chose Jones, while 14 percent picked De Niro. In both categories, nearly half of the respondents were unsure who should win.
The 85th Annual Academy Awards will be handed out on February 24th.
