In 2010, the World's Commonwealth Games were held in New Delhi, India. This was the first time that India hosted the games. The games were watched by over 2 billion people, worldwide. In order to broadcast the games, an International Broadcasting Center was created. The IBC acted as the media hub for the games that took place Oct. 3rd-14th. This year's gams were the first ever to be broadcast in full HD. The IBC was the first ever of its kind and was seen as a landmark in technical design and HD broadcasting.

The IBC was inaugurated on the 20th of September, at 3:30 pm by the Honorable Minister for Information and Broadcasting of the Government of India - Ms. Ambika Soni, in the presence of Mr. Suresh Kalmadi, B. S. Lalli and Aruna Sharma of Doordarshan, the national broadcaster.
The rights holders covering the Commonwealth Games included: Mai TV, Network Ten, Foxtel, CBC, Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation, Doordarshan, Namibia Broadcasting Corporation, Sky Network Television, Prime, Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria, Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation, South Africa Broadcasting Corporation, Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation, BBC, Video Sound Inc, United States.
