Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's palace in Damascus was the target of rebel-fired mortars on Wednesday.
They missed but they did strike the nearby
residential district of Mezze 86, home to many people from Assad's Alawite community.
State run media showed apparent footage of the carnage, reporting that three people had been killed and seven injured.
