Bushfires edge closer to homes near the coastal town of Pretty Beach in New South Wales in southeast Australia on Friday.

The Seven Network reported that the blaze was started by a camp fire which had not been extinguished properly.

Up to 110 firefighters from the Rural Fire Service battled the flames that were whipped up by hot winds, local media said.

Planes and helicopters released water over the area to try and keep the fires at bay.
