North Korea mourns following the death of Unification Church founder Sun Myung Moon.

Leader Kim Jong-un sent a wreath expressing his deep condolences as high ranking officials and business figures visited Moon's World Peace Center in Pyongyang to pay their respects.

They were greeted by Moon Hyung Jin, one of Moon's 10 surviving children and current head of the Church, and other family members .

Born in what is now North Korea, Moon was based mainly in South Korea after founding his controversial church soon after the Korean War.

Although a strident anti-communist, he visited North Korea in 1991 to discuss business ventures and the possibility of unification.

The self-declared messiah, whose body is currently lying in state in Seoul, died on Monday at 92 after suffering complications from pneumonia.

He leaves a vast business empire - and a legacy of mass weddings - behind.
