Flash floods hit Colombian coast
Flash flooding rushes through the city streets of Colombia's coastal city Barranquilla.

Two cars are swept away after creek water, swollen by hours of heavy, unabated rain rises up and causes panic.

Local media reported that some residents had become trapped in the surging flood waters with the body of one firefighter retrieved by authorities after he attended an emergency call.

Flood-prone Barranquilla does not have a rainwater drainage system, which means it is often affected by floods during the the Caribbean's hurricane season.

Authorities expect flooding to continue in the city as a strengthening Tropical Storm Isaac sweeps through the Caribbean Sea towards Florida.
