An Islamic sect lives underground in Russia

A member of an Islamic sect that has been living underground for almost a decade in Russia yells as police approach their compound.

Seventy members of the sect have been living in a bunker without heat or sunlight.

The founder of the sect, who has declared his home an independent Islamic tries to wave off police.

Some 20 children are found inside. Many were born underground. They had reportedly never seen daylight until prosecutors discovered their dwelling August 1st.

A 17-year-old girl turned out to be pregnant.

The groups 83 year old founder declared himself a prophet. His followers were banned from leaving their eight-storey underground bunker which had been dug in the basement of a building.

No one has been arrested, but police are looking into suspicions of child abuse. It will be left to the courts to decide whether children will be allowed to stay with their parents.
