GM Adds Rental App to Onstar; Direct Energy Gives $100K to Alberta Nonprofits; NHL Meets at The White House for Sustainability Talks - CSR Minute for July 24, 2012

General Motors car owners can now rent out their vehicles through the Relay Rides marketplace, using OnStar connectivity to offset the cost of owning a car. Relay Rides is the first third-party developer to integrated with GM’s OnStar proprietary application program.

Direct Energy is asking Canadian Facebook fans to help award up to $100,000 to charities that are implementing energy-saving changes to their operations. Using the company’s Facebook page, Alberta non-profits are invited to send a video application explaining how Direct Energy can help them reduce energy consumption. For every 2,500 new “Likes” Direct Energy receives on its Facebook page, the company will give away $2,500 to a charity.
