Euro 2012 stray dog cull draws protests

These dogs are safe - for the moment at least.

But some of their four-legged friends in Kiev in the Ukraine haven't been so fortunate.

Dog lovers took to the streets on Saturday to protest against a cull of stray dogs by Kiev authorities in the run up to Euro 2012.

They called for a boycott of the football championships which Ukraine is co-hosting with Poland.

This protester says humans are more dangerous to each other than dogs and that many of the dogs could have been put in homes rather than killed.

Kiev is due to host its first game on Monday when the home team will play against Sweden and France meets England.
