Look at House and Garden, Metropolitan Home, those are two good magazines. And of course hiring a designer, designers have experience. They have been to school so they know where to go, which showrooms to go to. It is not as difficult as it may seem and I think if you have the help of a professional that will make the whole process a lot easier.
