Clashes broke out during a protest in Santiago against a tribute to a former military official from the bloody dictatorship of General Augusto Pinochet.
Miguel Krassnoff is considered to be among the most notorious of Pinochet's officials.
Angry demonstrators threw eggs and dirt at a group of Krassnoff supporters.
He is being held in a military prison serving his sentence of 144 years for human rights crimes.
The Pinochet dictatorship left some 3000 people dead or missing and thousands tortured.
