Mexican police arrest drug kingpin

Mexican police parade Victor Manuel Rivera Galiana in front of media.
Known as Victor, the Fat Man, police say he is the leader of the La Barredora drug cartel.
Authorities claim the cartel is responsible for a recent increase in abductions and murders in the resort city Acapulco due to a turf war with another drug gang.
(SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) RAMON EDUARDO PEQUENO, FEDERAL POLICE ANTI-DRUG SECTION CHIEF, SAYING:
"The dispute between the two criminal organizations is what caused the violence in Acapulco port, due to the fight over control of drug sales and other illegal activities they undertook, such as homicides and the extortion of businessmen."
Efforts targeting larger gangs have left a power vacuum and bloody feuds over territory.
On Friday six people died in a shootout in the city of Juarez.
One unidentified man survived and is now in police custody.
More than 45,000 people have died in drug-related killings since late 2006.
