The Australian editor of an English language newspaper in Burma had a bail request refused by a Rangoon court again on Thursday. That was his second attempt requesting the court for temporary release.

55-year-old Ross Dunkley is charged with migration offenses and drugging and abusing a woman in Rangoon before temporarily leaving the country.

His first bail request to the court was rejected late last month.

Dunkley is the editor of The Myanmar Times. He was arrested at Rangoon airport on his way back from Japan on February 10 and is being held at Burma's notorious Insein prison with hundreds of political inmates.

If convicted, Dunkley could be imprisoned for up to five years.
