The King's Speech triumphs at X-rated Oscars

Colin Firth and Christian Bale won acting awards and The King's Speech took Best Picture at an eventful Academy Awards.

Melissa Leo became the first Oscar winner to use the F-word in an acceptance speech when she won Best Supporting Actress. She later apologised for any offence caused.

The King's Speech won four major awards, taking home Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Director for Tom Hooper and Best Actor for Colin Firth.

Picking up his award, 50-year-old Firth quipped: "I have a feeling my career has just peaked".

A pregnant Natalie Portman picked up the Best Actress Oscar for Black Swan, while the night was hosted by Best Actor nominee James Franco and previous nominee Anne Hathaway.
