"For the past 12 years we have been asking for our security as well as the security of our belongings but the Indian government has failed to do so."

Activists want the Indian government to do more to prevent the violence.

A fisherman was killed on Saturday after the Sri Lankan Navy fired at him, after his trawler allegedly entered their territorial waters.

On January 12, the Sri Lankan navy shot at another Indian fishing boat. One Tamil fisherman was killed and two others were critically injured in the incident.

New Delhi condemned the killings and asked the Sri Lankan government to investigate. But Sri Lanka has refuted the allegations.

Similar incidents were reported last year when fishermen complained that the Sri Lankan Navy was attacking them at sea when they accidentally sailed inside Sri Lankan territorial waters.
