Courtney Cox and David Arquette announce split

Hollywood couple Courtney Cox and David Arquette have announced that they are no longer together.

In a joint statement the pair say: "The reason for this separation is to better understand ourselves and the qualities we need in a partner and for our marriage"

Cox and Arquette met on the set of the movie Scream in 1996 and married 3 years later. The couple have a 6 year-old daughter, Coco.

Their statement also goes on to say: "We remain best friends and responsible parents to our daughter and we still love each other deeply".

The couple are still due to co-star along side each other in the fourth movie in the Scream series, due to be released next year.
