South and North Korean Border Tensions Continue

Tensions continue to mount on the Korean peninsula. South Korean soldiers guarding the border with North Korea are on high alert after the South accused the north of torpedoeing one of its warships back in March.

South Korean soldiers at the border with North Korea are on high alert with tensions at their highest level in years.

Seoul has accused the North of torpedoing its navy ship, the , killing 46 sailors in late March.

The South Korean army has raised its military alert level across the country, especially in the border area.

The two Koreas station about one million troops near their sides of the demilitarized zone that divides the peninsula since the Korea War ended.

The two sides are technically still at war after their 1950-53 conflict ended in a ceasefire, but without a peace treaty.
