Off-Duty Cop Harassing Motorists - March 28, 2024

  • last month
On the day of March 28th, 2024, an off-duty K9 handler of the Caldwell Parish, Louisiana sheriff's office went to the town of Oak Grove (some 85 miles away) for "some K9 work," the details of which were not disclosed. The deputy did call 10-8 (commonly understood as "on-duty") but was not on shift for patrol or responding to calls, which is why I describe him as off-duty for this recording.

Once completing whatever he did in West Carroll parish (on Caldwell taxpayers' dime) and getting back into Caldwell, he just couldn't resist stopping somebody in a SUV that supposedly didn't have a license plate. He never specified whether it had a temporary tag in the back glass or a dealer inventory plate (both of which he has been known to use as reasons to make bogus traffic stops) and never ran the driver's ID, but he let them go very quickly.

A while after that, he got nosy and ran a license plate on a random woman's vehicle. No traffic stop was made - surprisingly. Several hours after that, he got nosy again and ran a license plate on a random man's vehicle - interestingly, one of his own neighbors. No stop made on that one either - surprisingly.

Considering he wasn't on shift for patrol and responding to calls, one could say he had no business stopping the SUV for a very petty or bogus reason, or running the two random peoples' license plates. This is, however, an improvement over the previous instances when he constantly harassed motorists for several hours while not supposed to be on-shift or on-duty.
