Trump's Legal Team Faces Scrutiny Over Bond Difficulties in Fraud Case
  • last month
New York Attorney General Letitia James' office argued to the appeals court that they should disregard Donald Trump's claim that he cannot find an insurance company to support his $464 million bond in the civil fraud case. Trump's legal team contends that securing a bond is nearly impossible after 30 insurers have declined without half the bond amount in cash or stock collateral. The AG's office said Trump should try getting insurers to pool funds to underwrite the bond or better explain failed negotiations over real estate collateral.
