The Yamaha TMAX is considered by many to be the maxi-scooter that started it all. It first appeared on the scene at the turn of the millennium and dared to change the essence of the scooter. Throughout its 24-year existence, the TMAX has evolved with greater performance and technology, while retaining practicality and comfort at its core.

Yamaha has pulled the wraps off the new TMAX 560 for 2024 in its home country of Japan, and the OG has been given a host of updates to make it even better.

For starters, the Yamaha TMAX is one of the most powerful scooters on the market when it comes to performance; The 2024 version is powered by a 562cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, parallel twin engine. While 47 ponies and 41 pound-feet of torque at 7,500 rpm may not seem like a lot, it's certainly a lot of power for a scooter.

To sweeten the deal even further, Yamaha has added a host of tech features like traction control, a full-color TFT display with Garmin navigation, cruise control, keyless ignition, and even heated seats and grips.

But scooters have always emphasized practicality, and the 2024 Yamaha TMAX is no exception. In addition to wrapping you in comfort with its long windshield, comfortable ergonomic structure and comfortable seat, it can do this for both you and the passenger thanks to its wide seat. There's plenty of storage under said seat to accommodate your daily essentials. And if that's not enough, there's also the option to install panniers or a top bag, as is a common upgrade for TMAX owners looking to maximize utility.

In true Yamaha style, the TMAX 560 is all about a stylish and sporty aesthetic. Taking styling cues from its sportier siblings, the motorcycle features an angular body, a stylish LED headlight and flowing lines that give the scooter a fluid yet aggressive stance. It's definitely one of the worst looking scooters on the market, which is saying a lot.

Yamaha has not yet announced the price and availability of the new TMAX 560 in Japan, let alone other markets. But in the UK, the 2023 TMAX 560 Tech Max carries an MSRP of £14,007, or about $17,776; That's quite a change for a rather stylish scooter.
