Trump Remains on Colorado GOP Primary Ballot, Supreme Court Rules
  • 2 months ago
The Supreme Court tossed a Colorado court ruling that barred Donald Trump from the state's GOP primary ballot. Colorado's Supreme Court had blocked Trump due to a constitutional provision barring those who engage in insurrection from holding federal office. The US Supreme Court said states have no power to enforce that provision, especially for the presidency. Two other states, Maine and Illinois, also blocked Trump, but those decisions are on hold pending appeals. The rulings stem from Trump's actions surrounding the insurrection at the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.
