Birmingham police attacked by two men as a bike is thrown at them

Two thugs who were involved in a shocking street brawl caught on camera which resulted in police being battered over the head with a BICYCLE have been jailed.
Hamad Gernas, 23, and Adam Issa, 33, assaulted four officers after violence erupted in the streets of Lozells, Birmingham, on October 24 2023.
Disturbing footage shows how one cop was left sprawling on the ground with a head injury as they struggled to detain Gernas on the ground.
Issa suddenly appeared at the scene along Villa Road and smashed three other officers over the head with a bicycle.
He can then be seen picking up a bowl of fruit and throwing it at the officer before he was tackled to the ground by have-a-go-hero shopkeeper Abdul Guldari.
With the 57-year-old's help, police were able to detain Issa while Gernas was also arrested at the scene.
Gernas was later found guilty of three counts of aggravated bodily harm and Issa of two counts of assaulting an emergency worker and possession of cannabis.
Gernas, of Birmingham, was jailed for seven months and Issa, of no fixed abode, was caged for six months at Birmingham Crown Court on Monday, January 29.
