A man who kidnapped and sexually assaulted two young women by posing as a taxi driver has been sentenced to 22 years in prison. Thasawar Iqbal was sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court on Friday 26th May. He will serve a minimum of 17 years before being considered for parole.

Police are appealing for information after a middle aged cyclist died in a hit and run collision. Officers were called to Chester Road in Ergington around 5.30pm on Wednesday. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. A 36 year old man has been arrested.

An unprecedented 141.2 million visitors came to Birmingham and the West Midlands in 2022 - smashing the previous record set before the COVID-19 pandemic. The figures represent a 38% increase on tourist numbers in 2021. The city's visitor economy is worth £7.9 billion.
