Cummins to Recall 600,000 Ram Trucks in $2 Billion Settlement Over Emissions Scandal
  • 3 months ago
Engine manufacturer Cummins will recall over 600,000 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks from model years 2013-2019. This is part of a $2 billion settlement with the DOJ, EPA, and CARB over allegations Cummins installed illegal emissions control software. The software limited nitrogen oxide pollution during tests but allowed higher emissions during normal driving. The recalled trucks had Cummins diesel engines equipped with the "defeat device" software, used to make vehicle emission control systems function differently during emission testing.
