Volkswagen strikes settlement in car emissions scandal

Volkswagen reached a $1 billion agreement with with U.S. car owners and regulators to buy back the remaining diesel cars caught in the emissions cheating scandal. The settlement between the automaker and the federal government includes nearly 80,000 Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche cars. The accord covers vehicles dating back from 2009. Volkswagen also plans to contribute $225 million to an environmental fund to offset the cars' extra pollution, according to the LA Times.
