Wales headlines 18 December: Two names in the hat for First Minister race

Jeremy Miles is set to officially put his name in the hat to replace Mark Drakeford as first minister. The education minister has received the necessary nominations from Senedd members and will be up against economy minster and former health minster Vaughn Gething.

A team of firefighters have been tackling a blaze at a former council building in Anglesey. Shire hall was built in the late 19th century, and caught fire on Sunday at around 9pm. Roads in the area have been closed, and residents were informed to keep their windows closed overnight due to the smoke. No injuries have been reported.

Strictly come dancing fans were given a welcome treat during Sunday nights final as Welsh dancer Amy Dowden returned for a group dance despite finishing chemotherapy for breast cancer only last month, and breaking her foot earlier this year. The 33 year old from Caerphilly will be hoping to come back to the competition as soon as possible.
