King: Govt to support licensing of new oil and gas fields
  • 6 months ago
King Charles III has said the government would support "the future licensing of new oil and gas fields" in his first speech as monarch in the House of Lords. His Majesty, a long-standing environmental campaigner, said the legislation would "strengthen the United Kingdom's energy security and reduce reliance on volatile international energy markets and hostile foreign regimes". At the State Opening of Parliament, The King said this will help the UK transition to net zero by 2050 "without adding undue burden on households". Report by Brooksl.
