00:39 The 75-year-old King is to be treated at the London Clinic where the Princess of Wales

00:44 is recovering after undergoing abdominal surgery just days ago.

00:50 NBC News confirms that King Charles visited the Princess of Wales this morning ahead of

00:57 As for Kate, according to a January 17th statement from Kensington Palace, the Princess of Wales

01:04 was "admitted to the London Clinic yesterday for planned abdominal surgery."

01:10 They continue in their statement "The surgery was successful and it is expected that she

01:15 will remain in hospital for 10-14 days before returning home to continue her recovery.

01:23 Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until

01:29 The Palace goes on to note that while Kate appreciates the interest this statement will

01:34 generate, the Royal Family member hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain

01:41 as much normality as possible for her and Prince William's children, Prince George,

01:50 Additionally, Kate will be taking time out of the public eye while recovering.
