Glasgow’s OVO Hydro celebrates its 10th anniversary

The OVO Hydro in Glasgow’s West End recently celebrated its tenth anniversary, having officially opened on 30 September 2013 with a performance by Sir Rod Stewart, who has since proved to be a regular act at the venue.

In the past decade, the Hydro has consistently ranked in the top 5 of the industry’s most prestigious polls, including number one Worldwide on Billboard’s top grossing venues, it has welcomed over one million attendees per year, and in February 2023, surpassed over 1,000 shows.

To celebrate this milestone, the team behind the venue had special photographs put up around the building to commemorate some of the most iconic performances it has hosted.

This includes Paolo Nutini, who has played a number of home-turf shows including a five night record-breaking residency in 2022.

The cast of Still Game who have made a total of 51 appearances between 2014 and 2019.

Kevin Bridges who holds a record for the most performed shows in the Hydro, which granted him the first ever Platinum Artist Award.

Kylie Minogue who played at the venue’s 5th birthday in 2018 as part of her Golden Tour.

Sir Paul McCartney, Elton John, Taylor Swift, as well as local heroes Biffy Clyro.
