Reiner Goldberg, a German operatic heroic tenor, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2023, at the age of 83. He was a renowned performer of Wagnerian roles, and his voice was praised for its power, clarity, and expressiveness. His cause of death was not immediately shared with the publicGoldberg was born in Crostau, Germany, in 1939. He studied voice at the conservatory of music “Carl Maria von Weber” in Dresden, and made his professional debut in 1967 at the Saxon Theatre in Radebeul. In 1973, he joined the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden, where he performed leading roles in operas by Wagner, Verdi, and other composers.In the 1980s, Goldberg began to sing at major opera houses around the world, including the Berlin State Opera, the Vienna State Opera, and the Metropolitan Opera.
