European football could be coming to the Welsh capital in a few years as part of the UK and Ireland’s 2028 joint bid, which is now the only bidder, after Turkey pulled out of the race. It’s believed the home nation’s bid will be confirmed next week, at a Uefa meeting in Switzerland.

Councillors have warned that keeping Nevill Hall’s 24 hour emergency unit could mean cancellations and delays for other procedures for patients. Plans to close the unit overnight have been discussed, with the chief executive of the aneurin Bevan health board says they can’t afford to do everything they want to do.

Stars Aaron Ramsey and Brennan Johnson are both missing from Wales’ upcoming squad to face Gibraltar and Croatia through injury. The squad also features a number of uncapped players including Charlie Savage, son of former Wales midfielder Robbie Savage and Ian Rush’s grand nephew, Owen Beck.
