The subvariant is not yet prevalent enough to be listed on the CDC's variant tracker and does not cause more severe illness. Moderna, Pfizer, BioNTech, and Novavax are all planning updated vaccines. The CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices will meet on Tuesday to discuss approval for the updated vaccines.
