Franklin has strengthened into a very powerful Category 4 hurricane that poses life-threatening risks along the southeast coast of the United States. The NHC notes that while some additional strengthening is possible in the near term, Franklin is expected to begin gradually weakening late on August 30th. Close monitoring of Franklin's path and strength continues as hazardous conditions are forecast for coastal areas of the southeast U.S. and Bermuda over the next couple of days.
