Looting and riots erupt in France as Macron considers state of emergency
  • 10 เดือนที่ผ่านมา
British tourists travelling to France have been warned of possible curfews and transport restrictions as Emmanuel Macron considers imposing a state of emergency to crack down on spiralling riots and looting.

The warnings came as the French president called on parents to keep their children at home as he blamed video games for “intoxicating them”.

Curfews have so far been imposed in the towns of Clamart, Compiègne and Neuilly-sur-Marne, and Gerald Darmanin, French interior minister, announced that “all buses and tramways” will cease to operate after 9pm on Friday.

“Locations and timing of riots are unpredictable,” the British foreign office said in updated travel advice. “You should monitor the media, avoid areas where riots are taking place.”

It came as Mr Macron cut short a European Council meeting for crisis talks as he said there were “no taboos” on clamping down on rioting triggered by a police shooting.
