West, Ukraine Wanted Russian Soldiers to Kill Each Other-, Putin Slams Organisers of Wagner Mutiny
In his first reaction since the Wagner short-lived mutiny ended, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the uprising was “doomed to fail”. In a brief televised address, Putin also said that the country showed “unity” in the face of a “treacherous” rebellion. Putin indirectly slammed Prigozhin, saying that the “organisers of the rebellion” “betrayed their country, people”. He also confirmed reports that Russian pilots were killed during the failed mutiny, paying tribute to the dead. Putin appeared to suggest that Wagner would still be shut down, saying that the group’s fighters had the choice to sign a contract or relocate to Belarus. Putin met with his defence and security officials following the speech, at a meeting attended by Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu as well. Volodymyr Zelensky has claimed that his forces have advanced in all directions. Western officials claim that Ukraine was cautioned against taking advantage of the chaos to strike inside Russia, as per a report.
