Birmingham headlines 26 June: Man charged after gun recovered in Birmingham city centre

A 19 year old man was charged after a firearm was recovered in Birmingham city centre on Saturday. A police CCTV operator spotted two men walking near Pigeon Park in possession of a gun. Following a short foot-chase one of the men was detained.

A historic village festival was cut short due to a disorder on Saturday. An investigation has been launched after the festival organisers ended the festival early over safety concerns after weapons were seen at the festival. Some people reported there being an assault as well.

Sandwell councillors have approved plans to ask the government for enforcement powers to fine reckless drivers. Penalty Charge Notices will be issued with Moving Traffic Enforcement at the higher level of £70. A public consultation will take place for six weeks.
