Birmingham headlines 21 June: Police name woman stabbed to death in Handsworth as man is charged with murder

A woman who died after being stabbed in Handsworth earlier this year has been named as 37 year old Kinga Roskinska. Pawel Ondycz aged 50 of no fixed address appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Tuesday after being charged with her murder.

A woman who snatched a mum's purse in Birmingham city centre and a man who stole from Selfridges have been jailed. Donka Eftimova aged 22 pleaded guilty to two counts of theft and was sentenced to four months, and Boby Angel aged 43 was sentenced to four and a half months.

The Library of Birmingham turned orange on Tuesday night to mark World Refugee Day. The theme for this year's campaign is compassion and there are a host of grass roots events taking place through the week, supported by Birmingham City Council's Refugee and Migration team.
