A 64-year-old cyclist who was struck by a car in Glasgow’s East End has died in hospital.

John Morton from Paisley passed away from his injuries following four days in critical condition at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Police enquiries are ongoing and they have urged anyone with information to get in contact.

Next up, former employees of Morton’s Rolls, the Glasgow bakery that went into liquidation in March, have launched a legal battle demanding redundancy pay.

The government’s Redundancy Payment Service has told ex-staff members they are not entitled to a pay out because the firm was still solvent when saved by angel investors.

And in other news, a woman from Glasgow is leading a social enterprise encouraging companies across the country to make workplaces as supportive as possible for pregnant employees and new mothers.

Susannah Dale is urging firms to commit to a series of wellbeing steps that go beyond the statutory requirements for maternity leave.

This follows research from the Equality and Human Rights Commission which suggests 54,000 women a year are pushed out of the workforce after becoming pregnant.
