Musk's Email Raises Hiring Worries

  • last year
Tesla CEO Elon Musk sent an email to all employees expressing concerns about the company's hiring practices. He requested the vice presidents to send him a weekly list of their department's hiring requests, which some employees interpreted as a soft hiring freeze or a sign of Musk refocusing on Tesla after naming a CEO for Twitter. Musk emphasized that no one can join Tesla without his approval, even as a contractor. He has been involved in new hire and budget approvals at Tesla since becoming CEO in 2008. Tesla reported a more than 20% drop in first-quarter net income compared to the previous year, leading to a 10% decline in the company's stock price.
