Glasgow headlines 17 March: Passport office staff set to strike
  • last year
Passport office staff in the city are set to strike for five weeks amid a dispute over pay and working conditions.

This is set to begin on 3 April and will see union members ask for a ten percent pay rise and job security.

The UK Government has said this would cost over £2 billion and is unaffordable.

Next, a bid to extend pub opening hours in Glasgow until 1am is facing opposition by a claim that there is no real desire for change.

Glasgow’s SNP administration asked the licensing board to consider the extra hour, but an approved consultation response does not support the plan.

And in other news, ahead of his OVO Hydro show, Snoop Dogg was welcomed at the airport by pipers playing a twist on his classic Still D.R.E.

Following the performance, Snoop gave a thumbs up and a smile, while the piper Ross Ainslie said it was a very cool experience.
