A UN group that examines the treatment of people in detention has cancelled its visit to Australia after it was denied full access to institutions in New South Wales and Queensland. The UN subcommittee on prevention of torture says it faced obstacles in gaining access in a reasonable timeframe. Rwanda is the only other country to have had inspections terminated.
