Birmingham headlines 1 December: Gunman who fled to Pakistan facing life in jail for 2016 Digbeth warehouse murder

A gunman who fled the UK after shooting dead a businessman in a botched robbery was brought back to the UK to face justice after two years on the run. Tahir Zari, 31, fled the UK to Pakistan in 2016h. He was flown back to the UK in February 2020 and now faces life in jail.

Police have launched a murder investigation after a man was found stabbed in Solihull on Tuesday. West Midlands Police were called to the scene just before 6.45am. A man in his 40s was found with serious injuries and sadly nothing could be done to save him.

Fleetwood Mac's Christine McVie has died aged 79. McVie grew up in Bearwood and also attended the Birmingham Art College in Moseley. Her father, Cyril Percy Absell Perfect, was also a concert violinist and music lecturer at St Peter's College of Education in Saltley, and taught violin at St Philip's Grammar School.
