"Rahul Gandhi's Bharat jodo yatra has entered 71st day and the Yatra is currently in Maharashtra. Rahul gandhi during this yatra is meeting many people. From Young to old, civil society to artists, many are joining in. What is interesting is, many elderly want to meet Rahul Gandhi. Some of them have seen or met Rahul's father Rajiv Gandhi and Grandmother Indira Gandhi.
One such person is Vedwanti Ambadas Mandavgade. Hailing from shegaon, the woman in her 70s, want to meet Rahul Gndhi and handover a memory of his grandmother which she has kept with her for almost 50 years.
HW News met her. The year 1971 is known as the year of India-Pakistan war. Vedwanati Mandavagale, was then studying, she was a college student. But she loved Indira Gandhi, she wished that Indira Gandhi should become the Prime Minister of this country. so she wrote a letter to Indira Gandhi and wished her success in the elections. Subsequently, Indira Gandhi was also elected. But she hadn't forgotten the letter written by vedwanti. After her victory Indira Gandhi sent a letter to her in her own handwriting. For the last 50+ years, Vedwanti has kept the letter with her.
Now that Rahul Gandhi is coming to shegao as part of Bharat Jodo Yatra, vedwanti wishes to meet him and hand him over the letter, which is the memory of his grandmother.
