Meet the thrifter who has been turning car boot sale bargains into hundreds of pounds of profit - and is urging others struggling amid the cost of living crisis to do the same. Joseph McCreath, 19, started his thrifting journey back in May 2022 after buying two football shirts from a charity shop for £8 altogether - and selling them on for £90. Four months down the line, he now visits car boot sales every weekend, sourcing bargains for a couple of pounds and then selling them on through eBay, Depop and Vinted. Joseph, who goes by Joe, says his best car boot find was a vintage 80's AVIREX leather jacket which he bought for just £5. He then managed to sell it on for a whopping £160 - making him an impressive £155 profit. With people across the UK struggling in the cost of living crisis, thrifty Joe is urging others to do the same to make some extra cash over the weekends. Joe, who studies business management and entrepreneurship at Nottingham Trent University, said: "It's going really well. I'm really pleased. "Earlier this year, I just thought I'd pop into this charity shop on the high street on my way home, and I found two Chelsea football shirts that I bought for £4 each. "I sold both on, one for £25 and one for £65, and I thought why can't I do this on a larger scale? "I liked the idea of going to car boot sales where you can buy stuff for really cheap.
