Bihar Chief Minister and Janata Dal-United's (JD-U) de-facto leader Nitish Kumar submitted his resignation to governor Phagu Chauhan on Tuesday. He also submitted a support letter of 160 MLAs to stake claims to form a new government. "All MPs and MLAs are at a consensus that we should leave the NDA," Kumar told Chauhan while submitting his resignation to the governor.

Kumar called off the alliance between the JD(U) and BJP in Bihar. Later, he met Tejashwi Yadav after resigning as CM and the duo met the Governor to stake claim to form the government. The Congress, too, is set to join the Mahagahbandhan alliance as it has backed Nitish Kumar as Bihar CM.
