JD(U) leader confirms split from BJP in Bihar, congratulates CM Nitish Kumar
  • 2 years ago
Following the meeting of JD(U) MLAs and MPs in Bihar, the split between the party and BJP was confirmed on Tuesday after JD(U) leader Upendra Kushwaha congratulated Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He tweeted in Hindi, "Congratulations to Nitish Kumar ji for holding leadership accountable and giving new form to the new alliance. Nitish ji, go ahead. The country is waiting for you."

Nitish may now seek to revive his hope of being seen as a long-term rival to Prime Minister Narendra Modi nationally. There is also a theory of Nitish Kumar, once out of the NDA, emerging as one of the prime ministerial candidates in 2024 if the Congress does not do too well.
