China, Indonesia vow stronger ties as President Joko Widodo tours East Asia

Chinese President Xi Jinping met his Indonesian counterpart Joko Widodo in Beijing on July 26, 2022. Joko Widodo is the first foreign leader to meet Xi in person since the Winter Olympics in February. The two vowed to strengthen bilateral ties, and Beijing pledged support for the host nation of the upcoming G20 summit as Jakarta faces pressure to uninvite Russia from the Bali forum over its war in Ukraine.
