"Amid the unfolding political crisis in the state, Shivsena has issued a letter to all its MLAs. Shivsena's Chief Whip, Sunil Prabhu has issued a letter to all party MLAs, asking them to be present in an important meeting that will be held today evening. The letter states that if someone remains absent, it'll be considered that the said MLA has decided to quit the party voluntarily. The meeting is convened at 5 PM. The letter also says action will be taken against the MLAs who remain absent as per the constitution.
However, in his second tweet since the crisis, rebel MLA Eknath Shinde has said that the whip issued by Sunil Prabhu is illegal. He said that MLA Bharat Gogawale had been appointed as chief whip. Bharat Gogawale is one of the MLAs in the Eknath Shinde camp. Now this clearly means that Shinde is trying to stake a claim over Shivsena. Shinde said that as More MLAs joined him, he has the required number of 37 MLAs with him. He said of all the MLAs with him there are only 6-7 MLAs that are independent. Rest all are Shivsena MLAs. He also wrote to Maharashtra Assembly speaker with the signature of the rebel MLAs.
